Heckling Lizz Truss
Today alongside Anti-Capitalist Cambridge we supported Smash IPP and Shirley, mother of an IPP prisoner, in heckling Lizz Truss outside the MP’s constituency surgery at Breckland Leisure & Waterworld, Thetford.
Indeterminate sentences were banned by the ECHR in 2012 but the ruling was not retrospective. As a result, nearly 4000 people remain in prison years after their original sentence has ended due to the incompetence and maliciousness of the prison system. As Secretary of State for Justice, Truss has the power to rescind these sentences yet so far has chosen not to.
